“Pain insists upon
being attended to.
God whispers
to us in our pleasures,
speaks in our
consciences, but
shouts in our pains.
It is his megaphone
to rouse a deaf world.”

-C.S. Lewis

Deveraux Unplugged is a 45-60 minute time where Deveraux takes the audience on an honest and revealing journey of him filtering his emotions through his faith while dealing with the devastating loss of his 19-year old son, Deveraux Hubbard II, to pulmonary embolism.  He does this through the sharing of his story and songs he wrote as laments to God.  Deveraux’s prayer is that the sharing of his story will encourage others to lean into God as they honestly examine their own stories of pain, disappointment and despair.

About The Deveraux Hubbard II Foundation

Beginning in 2014, The Deveraux Hubbard II (DH2) Foundation is a nonprofit organization which focuses on “raising blood clot awareness 2 steps at a time”. The organization was created in memory of 19-year-old Deveraux “II” Hubbard who tragically passed in 2013 from a pulmonary embolism caused by a blood clot. Birthed in Peoria, Illinois, the foundation partners with the Bleeding & Clotting Disorders Institute of Illinois (BCDI) and Dr. Michael Tarantino to educate the Central Illinois area about clotting disorders, educational resources, and risk mitigation.

Supporting the National Blood Clot Association and their advocacy efforts, the foundation hosts their annual 5k event entitled Run, Walk or Trot 2 Stop Blood Clots. Bringing awareness to the classroom, the foundation also provides two scholarships to graduating seniors of Richwoods High School who have exhibited commitment to academic excellence, community service, and varsity sports.

Blurred Lines

Today’s Reading: Lamentations 4 Robin Thicke’s song “Blurred Lines” was number one on the Billboard’s Hot 100 list for 12 weeks in 2013.  Is it an indicator of how much we’ve blurred the lines morally?  Read Lamentations 4.  Jeremiah highlights the devastation that took place in Jerusalem. Lamentations 4:10 in…
